James Paul Studio is a small workshop in Pittsburgh where tiny things get designed, printed, assembled and clicked several hundred times before they go anywhere near a box.
The person behind it
Hey, I'm James. Here's the whole story.
It started in 4th grade, the year excited, creative kids get told to sit still in a chair all day. I just wanted to talk, draw, create… but instead it was MATH! Up until then, school had never been a struggle for me, but that year was different. I couldn't focus on math for long stretches. My brain only locked in on the things that lit me up: art, English language arts, and my favorite of all… technology!
When I discovered clickers, it was the first time I felt like I could concentrate my way through anything. A gentle, steady CLICK! CLICK! CLICK! When you're under-stimulated, a clicker gives your mind something to hold onto so it doesn't wander. When you're overstimulated and anxiety starts to spike, that same steady, repetitive rhythm helps bring your nervous system back to center.
When I was going through an especially rough spot, I decided to get a 3D printer. The very first thing I printed? A clicker. He was a primitive little fellow. I didn't know all the ins and outs of 3D printing yet, but I knew I loved character-shaped clickers. Clickers that transport you to another world. Clickers with personality.
James Paul Studio happened by accident. A friend saw me clicking away on the very first Mr. Broccoli and asked where they could get one. “Oh, I can make you one!” I said. Then another friend asked. And another… and well, the rest is history.
James Paul Studio is for the people who want to steady themselves before their next big idea. For getting through a difficult time. For staying optimistic about the future. And for holding onto curiosity and wonder, even into adulthood.

Every clicker starts as a sketch and becomes a 3D model, shaped around the click mechanism it has to hold.
- 2It gets printed here
Printed in the studio on our own machines, in biodegradable, renewable PLA. No factory, no minimum order, no container ship.
- 3It gets built by hand
Parts are finished, the mechanism goes in, and the piece is assembled the way you configured it — your colors, your fillings, your feel.
- 4It gets clicked
Then it gets clicked, by a person, until we're sure it sounds right. Only then does it go in a box.
